Welcome to the new year! It’s the start of all things new and making resolutions about your oral health is a great place to start. Dr. Barnett and our team suggest you add these three resolutions for healthier teeth this year:
Floss Regularly
Even though flossing is not thought of as being important, it is definitely something you want to add to your routine for healthier teeth. Flossing will remove the unseen plaque and build-up between your teeth or just under the edges of your gums. Do this and your gums will be healthy, which will reduce your chances of future tooth loss and periodontitis.
Upgrade To An Electric Toothbrush
If you’ve been using a manual toothbrush but not getting that smooth clean finish you want, maybe you should upgrade to an electric version. An electric toothbrush does a great job of removing plaque and food debris, leaving you with that professional clean feeling. Plus, it just works better than a manual brush does!
Schedule Routine Dental Appointments
Setting up your regular dental cleaning and checkup is a preventative step to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums. Professional cleanings will remove any tartar or plaque lodged a bit deeper between teeth or under the gums that you can’t reach. We’ll also examine your teeth, perform an oral cancer screening, and take any necessary diagnostic X-rays. These preventative steps will keep your oral health on track and help to detect any possible issues while they’re easier to manage.
